As RV-ers, we clock in a lot of miles on the road, and it helps to have something entertaining to listen to during our travels. So why not fill those hours with more of what we love most - talk about RVs!
Before we dive into our favorites list, let’s go over some basics about podcasts, including what they are and where you can find them. Ready? Let’s get started!
What are podcasts?
For those of you who are unfamiliar, Podcasts are audio programming, very similar to your favorite radio shows. The difference is that Podcasts are digital and online, usually accessed via an app on your phone or through a website. You can subscribe and download episodes of your favorite podcasts to your phone or tablet to listen to without Wifi or consistent cellular service, which is what we recommend when you’re on the road.
Many podcasts follow an episode format where the content is planned out for a “season” of the podcast, very similar to a TV show. It makes for interesting listening, and there are quite a few podcasts that are primarily about RVs and the RV Lifestyle, as well as a myriad of of other topics. We’re pretty certain that you’ll find a podcast that you love listening to.
How do I access podcasts to listen to?
There are multiple ways to get Podcasts on your phone. In fact, if you use a smartphone, it probably already has a Podcast app on it. For Apple iPhone users, look for the Podcast App. For Android users, look for the Google Podcasts App. If you don’t like or want to use either of these, there are other popular Podcast Apps, like Stitcher, Pocket Casts, Castbox, and more! Choose one to download onto your phone, and start browsing for Podcasts. If you want to check out any of the podcasts mentioned below, just search for the title in the Podcast app on your phone, and it should come up.
To listen to podcasts, use the app of your choice, and subscribe to the podcasts you’re most interested in. Subscribing allows the latest episodes to automatically appear in your queue, and you can unsubscribe at any time. If you’re going to be on the road, we recommend that you download the episodes of the podcasts you’d like to listen to. Downloading them means that the audio file is stored on your phone, so you don’t have to rely on Wifi or a cell signal in order to listen to them. Many podcasts put out a new episode on the same day each week for the duration of their season. If you subscribe, each week’s new episode will appear in your podcast app for you to enjoy.
If you really like a podcast, do them a favor and leave them a 5-star review. There’s nothing that helps podcasters more than 5-star reviews from their listeners. It takes just a few minutes and shows your appreciation for their content, which is free to listeners.
Now that we’ve got the basics out of the way, let’s talk about our favorite RV Podcasts - perfect to listen to while you’re on the road or staying home.
